This hands-on workshop will be led by exhibiting artist Hineaorangi Pakaua. Participants will get to know the patterns featured in Hineaorangi’s exhibition Tūhono through conversation and printmaking, using earth pigments and wooden printblocks carved by the artist.

This is a free workshop. It will go for about an hour.
We will be mostly working on the floor. Cushions, chairs, and table surfaces are available too as needed.
Materials and light refreshments are provided.
Access to the gallery is via a slope and three steps on Dowling Street. A temporary ramp will be in place to enable wheeled access. Please note, the doorway to the workspace is 750mm (narrower than some wheelchairs). Our back door can be used instead, please email for more information.
There is a toilet on-site (not wheelchair accessible).

Hineaorangi Pakaua is a full time multidisciplinary hautūtū, creating is immersive and necessary for her. Since studying at Te Wānanga o Raukawa, she has been leaning into mahi toi Māori, focusing on whakairo and playing with whenua pigments from around the motu. She takes inspiration from everything and everywhere all the time, but especially whakapapa, kōrero tuku iho, light and te taiao.
